The Seventh Link is a 1-player fantasy-themed RPG for the TRS-80 CoCo.
Elira and its 3 sister planets were created by a group of interstellar colonists using the power of the quantum blackhole that powered their spaceship. Unfortunately, the creation process has led to an unstable planet, that will slowly implode into death. With the creation of their new world, the colonists began the creation of Eliran society. Eventually, the land was colonized by 4 intelligent races: Men, Elders, Giants, and Dwarves. The lands founders even crated transportation points to the 3 sister planets, and hid them deep underground.
And evil entity known as The Power seeks to undue and destroy these lands. The player must form a party and seek out how to stabilize the worlds and defeat The Power.
Played from a top-down perspective, the player explores an overland map, cities, and towns. Dungeons are explored from a 1st person perspective. During character creation, the player spreads 40 stat points between strength, intelligence, wisdom, dexterity, and constitution. The player’s party starts with a single character, but can recruit further characters during their adventure. In towns, the player can speak with townspeople and shop at stores. In combat, players fight a number of enemies on a separate combat screen. Players can use short or long-ranged weapons and cast a variety of spells.
