Game Details

Picking up where the earlier games Choice of Romance and Choice of Intrigues left off, the player is once again an aristocratic Death Mage in the court of a fantastic alternate-history Iberia of full player-guided gender permutability.  Depending on choices made in previous games, the player may be the monarch’s spouse (and indeed, possibly parent to a legitimate heir!) or merely a courtesan.  All the same, intrigues function at every level of the court, and there is always opportunity for vertical mobility up—and down—the social ladder.

This game’s plot points kick things into Act 3 overdrive, with the player having to make the hard choices needed to overcome the ruler’s illness and subsequent reactionary paranoia, an orchestrated assassination attempt (so maybe it’s not paranoia after all), and mesmerism of the entire court by the monarch’s illegitimate son, all against a backdrop of a magical revolution wherein the unique powers of Life and Death Mages can be imbued into an inanimate object and activated by others.  Will the general order of things be overturned?  And will it take the player to the bottom or to the top?  That depends entirely on their choices.

The browser version can be played independently. For Android and iOS it is available as an in-app purchase through Choice of Romance: Affairs.
