War Guardian Chronicles Book 1: Song of Pisces is a real-time action role-playing game set in a fantasy world. The game starts off with an explanation about the 12 guardians, who served as military advisers to many warriors throughout the world. These guardians would die and be reborn many times over until such a time, 80 years ago, when the cycle seemed to have stopped. The tutorial level shows the last of the guardians, gun-toting Dr. Sorra Beam, who comes out of her hiding in order to search for the first of her fledgling warriors, the seer-in-training Sofi Yozora. With her trusty hammer that doubles as a tool and a weapon, Yozora then begins looking for the rest of her companions.
The game features real-time combat, and tool usage in order to navigate terrains. It also utilizes the concept of job promotion. Though Yozora starts off as an acolyte, whose powers involved healing and holy magic, she will be able to change jobs into a seer much later in the game. The same is true for her later companions: Haruka gets promoted from squire to templar, Cat’s Eye from rogue to mercenary, Mai Tokudaiji from minstrel to troubadour, and Pai Tokudaiji from novice to monk.
