Windchaser is a story driven real-time strategy (RTS) game, set in a unique fantasy world, the windy plains of Ensai and its surrounding provinces.
Water is a rare resource ever since the war of the ancients set the world ablaze and left only ruins of the civilizations of old. Nevertheless sailing ships still remain the main means of transportation between the flourishing cities of today’s human realms. Vessels of all types and sizes travel through the grassy oceans of the plains, exploring and reclaiming lost lands and transporting goods between the different regions of the known world.
But these times are not entirely peaceful. Many dangers await in the endless width of the world. Packs of aggressive wild beasts, bands of human pirates or even uncontrollable ancient war machines make sure that there is a constant need for professional fighters and adventurers. These brave men and women are organized in freelance guilds offering their services to anyone that can afford their price.
In Windchaser the player takes control of such a guild.
The guilds core is its mobile head quarters, located on a large plainship. This ship can be moved and transports the guild members to their various destinations, as well as being the general focus of activity for the guild. The player will follow a group of important characters while the games story unfolds. New members will be recruited during the game, expanding the possibilities and power of the guild. The various characters joining the guild will earn experience and can be trained into several unique classes, giving the player great variety in forming parties to suit different tasks or enemy formations.
The game is divided into missions commonly found in RTS games. These missions are accessible through a detailed world map in between the missions. The missions are linked through the storyline.
