Game Details

Wizardry: Chapter 1 is a mobile game based on the long running Wizardry RPG series. The game starts with the player waking up in a cell with a hangover and no idea what has happened. A guard explains that he has rampaged an inn and attacked the mayor’s son who now wants the player’s head. However, the town’s sewers need to be cleaned out and the player can please the mayor by accepting the task.

The game starts with the player creating a character which is done by choosing a class (fighter, mage, priest or thief) and a race (dwarf, elf, halfling, gnome or human). Unlike other games in the series, only one character is created at the start but more can be added to the party by talking to NPCs. Each character has stats in four categories: strength, luck, defense and attack and these increase automatically when levelling up. Experience is earned by winning battles and solving tasks and to level up the player has to visit the character’s guild.

Similar to other Wizardry games, the player explores the game world from a first person perspective, but when combat begins, it changes to a side view with enemies on the left and party members on the right. Actions for each character are selected from a menu with five options: fight, defense, herbs, spell and flee. The combat is turn based like in other Wizardry games.
