Xin Juedai Shuangjiao 3 is a direct continuation of the story that was told in its two predecessors. However, unlike the previous games, it is not directly based on Gu Long’s original novel. Graphically, the game also uses pre-rendered backgrounds and small 3D character models. The battle engine is active time, similar to the one of Final Fantasy. Combat and many exploration screens are viewed from an isometric perspective. Battles with regular enemies are random in some areas, while in others enemies are visible on screen.
