Game Details

It is the Three Kingdoms era in China. The young hero Xu Muyun was adopted by the kingdom of Wei, where he grew up and was trained in swordsmanship with his childhood friends, Renyin and Zhang Gao. When the time of war came, Xu Muyun did not hesitate. The kingdom of Shu was the greatest enemy of Wei, and the young hero felt it was his duty to protect his homeland at all costs. However, as the war continues, Xu Muyun begins to realize things aren’t as simple as he had thought before. Tough choices must be made, choices that will challenge his loyalties and his vision of the world…

Xuanyuan Jian Waizhuan: Yun zhi Yao (“The Clouds Faraway”) is the second waizhuan (side-story) to Xuanyuan Jian 5, the first one being Xuanyuan Jian Waizhuan: Han zhi Yun (“The Clouds of Han”). The game’s story is the counterpart of the one of Han zhi Yun; also set in the Three Kingdoms era, it describes the events of the war from the point of view of Wei rather than Shu people. Visually and gameplay-wise, the game is also similar to its immediate predecessor in the series, retaining the turn-based combat with a bar that displays the moves of the participants, the possibility to choose party members (up to four active combatants), and the series’ trademark item- and monster-fusion system.
