Season 4 of Skull and Bones is now live. In Shadows of the Deep, players are introduced to a new threat in the Indian Ocean. It's none other than a deadly new pirate lord with a ghostly fleet.
Vikram Rajan arrives on the long-lost Schaduw while bringing with him a horde of spectral terrors that threaten the hold players have on the Indian Ocean. He is driven by anger and this is directed mainly to the Dutch Merchant Company, whose agents kidnapped and murdered his wife. He's now on a quest for revenge against Commodore Jonas Vanderkill, also known as the Wolf Hunter. At the same time, he's looking to a mysterious artifact that's said to allow him to reunite with his wife by feeding it souls.
What makes Vikram a truly formidable enemy is that he has command on the ghostly forces. Once he’s in battle, he summons special Monolith springloaders, which are able to levitate above the water and slow the players down.
Meanwhile, his Soul Blast attack is able to cover a large area and that only way for players to avoid it is if they sail out of range or hide behind an obstacle. Those hit with the Soul Blast result in having their ship becoming Tainted and getting damage over time.
Another thing about Vikram is that because he deals in soul magic, the barrier created by the Soulshield Springloader won't affect Vikram or his attacks. In addition, his command over the afterlife means that in battle, players shouldn’t start shooting off celebratory fireworks when his ship sinks. That’s because he’ll raise himself and his ship back to life, which is when the real fight begins.
By the way, while it seems that Vikram does indeed offer a high level of threat, it’s possible to counter what he dishes out with the new ship.
Skull and Bones invite players to a world of open-world maritime adventure games.
