Barony Introduces Improvements to Treasure Room

The latest update for Barony has finally arrived. Part 1 of the Instruments of Destruction brings with it a lot of major changes to the game. One of these is focused on Treasure Rooms.

Typically in Barony, a Treasure Room is protected by an indestructible Iron Door. With this change, adventurers can now discover vaults across the dungeons. The treasure concealed within is secured by Wall Locks. Then hidden somewhere on the same floor, often in chests, on tables, or inside breakables, is a key which matches the material of the lock simply waiting to be found. With the proper key, adventurers can open treasure rooms and obtain whatever bounty is inside.

Now the value of treasures that's found within treasure rooms increases based on the security of the room itself. Iron Locks and Iron Keys are the most common. They're also pickable with the proper skill and tools. While they're easy to open, they hide less valuable treasures. As the difficulty of picking these locks increases with the depth of the dungeon, so to does the value of the treasure stored within. It's worth noting that iron treasure rooms rarely employ any other kinds of security measures but are (probably) the only ones that may be trapped.

There are also Bronze, Silver, and Gold-sealed treasure rooms which are heralded by colored dungeon lighting and usually, at most, appear once per dungeon floor. Then there are the magically warded gates, unpickable locks, and unbreakable walls that's sure to thwart greedy thieves, particularly at deeper levels. The higher rarity treasure rooms have the most impassable security measures. Gold Locks, for example, are never pickable.

This new update makes changes to the magic system and introduces a new utility station with the Cauldron. Read more about what Part 1 of the Instruments of Destruction brings to the game here.
