Crusader Kings III Reaches New Milestone with 3 Million Copies Sold

It’s been three years since Crusader Kings III was first launched. Last week publisher Paradox Interactive announced that 3 million copies of the base game has been sold. This does not include expansion packs or cosmetic packs.

This latest milestone shows the enduring power of the game by offering an excellent story-telling experience and combine it with a strategy game which has a wide appeal. It’s actually the first grand strategy game from Paradox that served as an entry point for a lot of players in historical gaming.

Crusader Kings III Game Director Alex Oltner shared in a statement that they’ve been busy for the last three years and it’s been exciting to see players enjoy what they’ve built. He added that the game has something that appeals to almost all types of players.

Start Your Dynasty

In the game, players take command of their house and expand their dynasty through the Middle Ages. They get to claim lands, titles, and vassals to secure a realm worthy of royal blood. There's also a sprawling simulated world that's filled with different characters that include peasants and knights, courtiers, spies, knaves and jesters, and even secret love affairs. Then there is the extensive cast of historical characters which players can romance, betray, execute, or subtly influence.

Larger than Life

Each character in the game is truly larger than life. Each one has traits and lifestyle choices which then determine their actions as well as the schemes. Players have the option to rule with an iron fist to spread fear and dread or perform magnanimous deeds to inspire subjects. There's a lot of things that can be done in the game. For example, it's possible for players to groom their heir through appropriate guardians or make the option to do the education themselves. Players can also customize their ruler and noble from appearance to attributes.

Achieve Great Things

Players can choose to be a pious king and bring religious powers to their side or design their very own faith. Those who want to be known even after death can introduce innovations or construct those mighty castles. These can increase not just wealth but even prestige. There are limitless paths for players to follow and different ways to secure and keep their place in the history books.
