This year marks a decade since Dying Light first came out and introduced players to a new survival horror experience. In celebration, there’s a lot of things that are happening. That’s not enough for developer Techland as the studio also gave us a peek on what they’re doing for this year.
In a statement, the studio shared that they’re already working on what could be the next era of the franchise. As an example, the studio cited the major rebrands they’ve been doing.
Plans for The Beast
One of the plans in the pipeline is Dying Light: The Beast, which is expected to release in Summer 2025. They’re sharing some of the progress on the 10th anniversary Dying to Know show. In particular, the studio revealed that they’re working on the moveset and animations to make Kyle truly feel like Kyle. This is something that’s been requested by a lot of fans.
New Projects
The studio also shared that they’ll be continuing the series and there are currently a number of unannounced projects in the works. It also seems that they’ll be going beyond video games with new board games and even exclusive merchandise. There are also plans to come out with an original webcomic series.
These are some of the plans but the goal is to introduce the world of Dying Light to even more players.
As mentioned earlier, it’s been 10 years since the game was first released. Read more about what’s happening for the game’s 10th Anniversary here.
Released in 2015, Dying Light changed the open world survival horror genre with the introduction of the night and day experience. During the day, players get to face slow-moving zombies and give that false sense of normalcy. However as the sun sets, the rules of the game changed dramatically. New dangers and apex predators come out and take control of the night.
It’s not just the night and day experience, as the game also featured visceral and savage combat along with natural parkour movement. This allows for a new level of both free movement and creative brutality.
