If you're a fan of 90s games in the vein of Might & Magic, Wizardry, and Ultima, then we have good news. Legends of Amberland II: The Song of Trees is now available for the PC via Steam and priced at $19.99. Versions for the Xbox console and Nintendo Switch are scheduled to come out in 2024.
The game has players lead a team of seven adventures, which can either be manually assembled or pre-made. They then go on an epic adventure and do battle against the evil that's lurking in Amberland. What players can look forward to is the fact that it players don't need a lot of hours to complete it or do an endless grind to progress. That's because basically the game is a love letter from the 90s, which is considered as the golden era when it comes to RPGs.
Honoring RPGs of Old
Developer Silver Lemur Games made sure that the game had the look and feel of old RPGs while at the same time ensuring that it worked flawlessly on modern machines, especially those on very high resolutions. The studio also made it a point that the game had very low hardware requirements so that it can be played even on very old machines. As proof of this, the game can run on any processor as long as the memory is at least 1 GB RAM. In terms of storage, it only needs available space amounting to 200 MB. The game can even run on Windows XP.
The Legends of Amberland
By the way, the game is part of The Legends of Amberland series. However, unlike other series the titles can be played in any order. That's because while the different titles do share the same world and even lore, each one has a separate and self-contained story. Probably as a nod to fans of the series, there's going to be mild references to events that happened in previous titles. However, this is basically more like a flavor and doesn't hinder the ability to play in any order.
