New Story Trailer for MISTERY Released

Developer Game Frontier released a new story trailer for the upcoming multiplayer social deduction and survival game MISTERY. It tells the story of how some small errors actually led to a great disaster. It seems that when MCI employees of Site 14 didn't follow the Special Containment Procedures, they suffered great losses when performing what should have been a simple task.

You can watch the new trailer here.

MISTERY is a multiplayer game of survival and social deduction and inspired by the SCP Foundation. Players get to work with others and collect materials, survive the dangers, and complete tasks. They not only have to watch out for monsters but also the Alternates who disguise themselves as teammates. These Alternates can change into supernatural monsters and attack players at any time.

The game has a maximum of nine players cooperate and explore the crumbling site. During the day, they'll have to scavenge resources, craft weapons, and retrieve batteries. Then at night they'll need to try and survive by using various items and skills to repel those waves of monsters.

However, making things difficult is that someone among the survivors have been contaminated and are actually beasts wearing human skin. Ever worse, they are anomalies which have been imprisoned on the site and are more than eager to tear reality apart. It's important to keep an eye out for warning signs. For example, if someone seems to be behaving weirdly, then maybe it's good to let the others know.

One of the exciting features of the game are the random encounter events. It's a way for the game to build that environmental storytelling mechanism of new-weird tales. In the future, the development team said that new stories are going to be released with new mechanics, anomalies, characters, and maps, to name a few.

The game is being developed by Game Frontier, a studio that focuses on creating multiplayer survival games. For this upcoming game, there's a 16-person team working on it. It's expected to be released sometime in 2025.
