MuHa Games announced that Project Thea is coming out later this year. This dark turn-based strategy-survival RPG features retro-futuristic urban fantasy and combines it with Slavic folklore. It's being planned to be released first for the PC with additional platforms to be announced in the future.
The game takes players to the universe of Thea. It's a shattered and post-apocalyptic world that's filled with reimagined Slavic creatures. This is where the remnants of humanity try to claw back from the edge of extinction. In this game, players are thrust into a retro-futuristic setting which is infused with Slavic folklore and urban fantasy as they try to rebuild a fragile colony and battle dark forces.
An example of this is the cunning Baba Yaga who now runs an enigmatic ice cream van business and even an elite nanny service. Then there's also the Czort, a lawyer-demon who's bent on exploiting any deal to its advantage. There's no question that these are fantastical beings and have been woven seamlessly into a setting where the clash of magic and technology has created constant tension and danger. Players are placed in the middle of it all and their survival being just the beginning.
Key features of the game include:
- Survive and Explore: Venture into a dangerous, hex-based post-apocalyptic wasteland to gather resources, uncover Points of Interest, and face unexpected narrative events. The further players go, the greater the risks and rewards.
- Develop the Hero and the Party: Create and customize the hero’s heritage, class, appearance, and abilities. Recruit and lead a diverse party of NPCs, each with unique skills and stories, to face the challenges ahead.
- Card-Based Combat and Challenges: Engage in tactical, turn-based card battles against enemies or solve non-combat skill challenges using the party’s unique deck and modifiers.
- Colony Management: Protect and expand the colony, Project Ostoya. Gather resources, unlock new buildings with STLs (Sigil-Transfer Lattices), and deliver energy shards to keep the generator running. Balance survival with growth to ensure the future of the people.
- Slavic Mythology Meets Urban Fantasy: Encounter reimagined folklore creatures like the Striga, Leshy, and Poludnica. Navigate a world where magic, technology, and Slavic myths collide in unexpected ways.
- Single-Player or 2-Player Co-op: Face the challenges of Thea alone or team up with a friend in cooperative gameplay to share the journey and strategize together.
