Publisher gamigo announced that the Rising Tides: Release the Kraken update for Trove is now available on consoles. This update was previously released for the PC version. The launch means console players can now enjoy a lot of new content.
A New Story
The update introduces a new story involving Saltwater Sam and the Depth Stepper. Players get to dive deep into Long Shade and start an all-new questline with Saltwater Sam and his crew. Those who finish the questline get the chanceto craft the "Depth Stepper: Deep Kraken." This lets them look for and defeat the Deep Kraken itself, which can be found within the watery Depths delve biome.
The Deep Kraken
The Herald of the Deep Krake is actually a new NPC that spawns in "The Depths" delve biomes after any boss when a Runic Depths Vault spawns. By making use of Kraken Shell Fragmentt, along with other materials, this NPC can let players craft new collectibles which include five pets, one Mount, one Mag Rider, and one set of Wings. There's also one new Buff available for those with 200+ skill in the Mysticism profession.
For those wondering, Kraken Shell Fragments are found within the Runic Depths Vault as well as from enemies encountered during the Kraken questline.
Let's Go Fishing
Players should be happy to know that Fishpools in the Long Shade now feature 16 new Depths-themed fish. These are divided into six common, six uncommon, and four rare). The rarest of these fish can only be obtained by using the "Pole of the Deep."
Once players get to obtain all the 6 "uncommon" Depths fish, they can then ask help crafting it from Murkwater Mark, on Sam’s ship found randomly throughout the Long Shade.
New Fixes
Aside from the new content, the tutorial has been updated, which should make the first-time user experience a lot better. Speaking of a first-time experience, new players can try the game and get seven days of Patron Pass. This offer ends October 29.
Trove is available free to play on Windows PC via Steam and the official website. It’s also on consoles PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
