Developer Lofty Sky Entertainment announced the Sky of Tides is launching later this year. The game is coming out for the PC via Steam and the Epic Game Store. It's also available for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and the Nintendo Switch.
The World of Numen9
Sky of Tides is a story-driven and sci-fi adventure game that comes with RPG elements. It's set on the world of Numen9 which is in a technologically advanced universe that's on the brink of war. The game explores the aftermath of a great calamity that has fractured the planet with oceans now floating in the sky and the land being split into nine different planetoids. The story follows Rin, who is looking for his father after disappearing under mysterious circumstances. Along the way she meets a diverse cast of characters that offers her choices which shape not only her future but also of Numen9.
It's About Balance
Like with most narrative RPG adventures, there are multiple endings. In fact, Sky of Tides has 32 of them. What sets the game apart those us balance leads to the true ending. You see, the outcomes in the game are based on the ability of players to reach thresholds in each of the five character stat categories. These are compassion, intelligence, courage, luck, and humor.
Extra Reward
Those able to get the right balance can reach the true ending. That’s not all since those able to achieve this can obtain a special reward which is getting access to the whole five-episode exclusive animated series set in the same world and right inside the game.
The series explores the world of the game from the viewpoint of another protagonist who is Atla Gildeon.
In a statement, creative director Judith Cheung shared that the world in the game is broken, divided, and out of balance. She added that instead of doing what’s being done before, they went with a mechanic that came naturally from the motivations of the characters. She went on to say that since the world needs balance, the game rewards just that.
