META Publishing announced that it has officially launched the open playtest for Blind Descent. It's available for the PC via Steam. This playtest represents a significant milestone in the journey that is the development of the game.
In a statement, developers at Pokuch revealed that the alpha test is focused on solo playthroughs for now. That's because the goal is to test core mechanics while at the same time observe player behavior. As such, the studio is encouraging all those who join the open playtest to share their thoughts in the dedicated Steam Hub and Discord threads.
To deepen the mechanics of the game, the studio went on to say that they're introducing what's known as the "Symbiosis System." This approach was inspired by the haunting alien logic of hit TV mini-series Scavengers Reign. The system shapes how players interact with the ecosystem. The studio said more details on this feature are to be revealed soon.
