Chrono Studio announced that they're working to overhaul the combat system of Chrono Odyssey. This is a result of the concluded Closed Beta Test back in June. These planned changes are all based directly on player feedback.

The combat system of the game is being rebuilt to allow for sharper responsiveness along with more impactful gameplay. Improvements include:

  • Reduced animation delay and input lag for tighter controls.
  • Enhanced hit feedback with improved visuals, synced hitboxes, and clearer reactions.
  • A new “Matrix” system that allows each weapon to evolve into four distinct playstyles.
  • Smarter AI and dynamic enemy behavior that will enhance challenge and replayability.
  • Better weapon switching, lock-on mechanics, camera behavior, and controller support.

World and Dungeon Upgrades

Players should be happy to know that the world of Setera is set to become denser and more rewarding. Changes include:

  • Enhancing region-specific features to strengthen visual identity and introducing new exploration elements such as themed caves and diverse routes.
  • Dynamic grass and wind systems now respond to player movement.
  • Improved dungeon replayability with randomized gimmicks, branching paths, and challenge-reward systems.
  • Additional hidden quests and branching local storylines, featuring unique gear and collectibles.

Chrono Odyssey invites players to an enormous and intricately designed seamless open world that expands across different biomes as it promises unrestricted exploration that caters to all adventurers at heart.

The game introduces a novel layer to combat mechanics known as the “Chronotector,” an artifact that allows players to manipulate time. This unusual feature opens up a dynamic range of gameplay options since players can pause time during monster fights or even rewind the world to explore past eras before significant events reshaped the landscapes.

Chrono Odyssey also puts emphasis on community play with its end content that features challenging dungeons and raids. The high-risk and high-reward scenarios encourage players to team up while at the same time give solo players the chance to prove their skills. Meanwhile, the economic design focuses on meaningful harvesting and crafting activities. Players can do various activities like logging, mining, harvesting, and skinning. All of these feed into the game’s elaborate crafting system where players can create valuable equipment and consumables.
