The fantasy tactical RPG Skygard Arena is finally out for the PC through Steam Early Access. The game offers a fresh take on the genre which can be best described as League of Legends meets Final Fantasy Tactics. While the game is priced at $19.99, players can enjoy the launch discount of 20% for a limited period.
In the game, players lead the Champions of five factions as they fight for victory in the Tournament of the Ancients. This is where disputes are settled through intense strategic battles. In the arena, players need to master the unique combat system of the game that's inspired by MOBAs.
Coming up with the ultimate squad is key in Skygard Arena. Players need to assemble a team of three Champions from a roster of nine for now. They then choose one of their two distinct Personas which modify the gameplay and skill sets. Players can also adapt their power with game-changing Artifacts. Once all that is done, it’s time to engage in tactical skirmishes where every decision counts.
Different Ways to Play
There are different ways to play like the solo Campaign mode where players get to battle in hand-crafted tactical missions. These include challenging clashes between the Champions, objective capture run, unique enemies and maps, large-scale battles, and epic boss encounters, to name a few. Those looking to enjoy more freeform battles can check out the Arena mode which promises exciting encounters. In this one, teams of three Champions face each other, and they do what they can to capture objectives or eliminate the opposition to earn enough victory points.
Players can also take the fight online and go against other players with the global matchmaking system. They get to competitively climb the leaderboard, face a friend for a casual game, or fight against AIs with adjustable difficulty levels.
In a statement, Gemelli Games Co-Founder & CEO Alexandre Colin shared that this game is the “culmination of everything” they love about gaming. He added that they were also fortunate to have the support of the community who provided feedback throughout the game’s development process.
