The Dawn of Equinox Update is Now Live in Sea of Stars

A new experience arrives in Sea of Stars with the release of the Dawn of Equinox update. There's a lot to unpack and today we'll take a look at some of the new content.

Before that, it's important to note that developer Sabotage Studio revealed in a post that this update is pretty much "the community’s gift to us." The studio went on to say that they've received overwhelming support since they first announced the game. Anyway, one of the main features of the update is that the game is now playable by up to three players. Allies can now travel the world together while at the same time master the Co-op Timed Hits combat mechanic. This should be good news to all players.

Combat 2.0

The addition of Mystery Locks introduces a new gameplay loop when it comes to revealing the way to break the spells of new enemies joining the fight. The "Reveal" functions meanwhile have been added to some of the special skills. Finally, Combo Points now remain after battle which offer new ways to open certain encounters or even test different damage types on enemies to reveal their locks.

New Content

Other new content includes a revamped prologue. The updated flow no longer has the flashback structure and instead start their childhood directly having action in the prologue. Then there's the new cutscene which highlights a pivotal moment in the original adventure and is referred to as "Paths on Water."

Another new addition is Speed runner Mode Relic. This one was designed with the assistance of the speedrunning community. It activates a range of features that's sure to be helpful for those looking to set a new personal best or world record. The update also improves the Parrot Relic. You see, the secret-tracking parrot seems to have learned a few new tricks to better help players track down overlooked challenges and collectibles.

Players can also look forward to the three difficulty settings when starting a new game.
