The latest update for The Elder Scrolls Online introduces some rather interesting changes. One of the highlights is how new players are onboarded in the game. In particular, the tutorial quest has been changed.
In the past, the tutorial quest was the "Gates of Adamant." With the new update, the first chapter of the original Main Quest, which is "Soul Shriven in Coldharbour" now serves as the game's tutorial. It also serves as the starting for all the new characters.
Now for those who are still on the "Gates of Adamant," they can still finish the quest as long as their character remains in progress. For those who almost complete this quest but have yet to finish "Soul Shriven in Coldharbour," they can still engage in the story. Players can skip the character tutorial after their first time. In addition, players automatically complete the quest and be eligible for subsequent quests in the storyline beginning with "The Harborage" once they reach the first major city of their alliance.
By the way, it's also important to note that players now begin in third-person mode. Of course, they can switch to first-person.
Players can also look forward to getting a new weapon from the Dremora corpse outside of their cell based on their selected class, based on the most familiar "archetype fantasy" related to their class choice. These weapons are in the Daedric style and include:
- Arcanist: Fire Staff
- Dragon Knight: Two-Handed Axe
- Necromancer: Ice Staff
- Nightblade: Bow
- Sorcerer: Lightning Staff
- Templar: Two-Handed Sword
- Warden: Ice Staff
