A new update is now available for Stardeus and it's by far the biggest released so far for the game. There's actually a lot of new content to look into. In this one we'll focus on one of the most anticipated changes to the game which is the new body parts system.
According to developer Kodo Linija, this change results in the game being closer to the likes of Dwarf Fortress and even RimWorld. To understand this new system better, take a cat for example. It now has 20 body parts like eyes, ears, legs, paws, tail, and even a set on internal organs, to name a few. Robots meanwhile have become fully modular while at the same time having replaceable parts which players can mix and match to come up with different combinations.
That's not all since each body part now gives the owner some abilities and stats. Legs for instance give the ability to move, obviously. However, when these are damaged in combat or even amputated, it results in the colonist not being to do any activities that involve moving around. In addition, if any wounds are left unattended it leads to the colonist bleeding to death. By the way, it's important to note that it's possible to sell healthy organs or body parts.
The new system also allows players to conduct different experiments like replacing the tracks of a robot with a jet that's removed from a drone. When this is done, it results in grounded robots obtaining an ability to fly. Equipment items can also give such abilities like a jet suit letting a human colonist to fly. What else? Well, the internal organs from biological beings can be interchanged across different species.
Overall, the new body parts system offers new levels of gameplay depth and immersion. It's tightly integrated with the new AI system which you can read more about here.
Note that this is just one of the many new contents introduced to the game courtesy of the Bioverse update. You can get Stardeus for the PC via Steam. The game is currently being offered at 35% off and this promotion ends soon.
