Something big is arriving to Path of Exile. The Settlers of Kalguur are all set to make their presence known this July 26. One of the highlights is the introduction of the Challenge League.
The Challenge League is basically helping Kalguuran pioneers build the town of Kingsmarch and establish trade between Wraeclast and their homeland. It's an excellent chance for a fresh start in a new economy. While all the old characters and items of the playres remain present in both Standard and Hardcore leagues, they'll be encouraged to be part of new leagues where they can complete their challenges and show their mastery of the game.
Building the Town
In particular, Dannig, Rog, Tujen and Gwennen, are out looking for resources in Wraeclast. With these resources, they hope to begin town construction and establish a shipping trade route to Kalguur. To manage the different jobs needed in Kingsmarch, players need to hire skilled workers. They'll also need to build a Harbor especially if they want to establish a shipping route between a number of Kalguuran and Karui ports for trade. Remember that each Port returns specific rewards based on what players send them. Then as the town grows, it's going to attract more attention, whether good and bad.
Check Out the Tech
Another thing to keep in mind is technology, which the Kalguurans are known to be big on. In fact, they’ve hired Isla, who’s an engineer from the Heist League. Once at Endgame, Isla is able to help players build a series of Kalguuran-modified Map Devices which they can then put a queue of Maps into. For those who managed to hire a few skilled combatants, they’ll put themselves to work running those maps one after another.
Crafting Techniques
New as well is the Runesmithing Table. It uses powerful Kalguuran blacksmithing arts where players can engrave runic magic onto their weapons. There’s a lot of rune-types and combinations for players to choose from and they can unlock new crafts that can be applied to weapons as enchantments.
But wait, there’s more! The upcoming update is also bringing back the recombination system. While it’s not the same as it was before, players can still combine two items together and hope to get the best modifiers of each onto a single item.
Path of Exile is set in a dark fantasy world and developed by hardcore gamers. The game is available for the PC via Steam.
