A lot of you are probably familiar with Visual Novels. Now what if you were to play such a game but the twist is that the other characters you meet are actually also players? Developer gakuen.org is offering just that with its upcoming title Sentou Gakuen: Revival. The game boasts of offering a traditional Visual Novel experience and then mixing it with MMORPG elements.
In the game, you take on the role of a student at a random high school in Japan, because why not right? It's a place where delinquency, chaos, and even strange occurrences happen everyday. The question is how are you going to navigate this rather wild environment? Are you going to make allies or enemies?
Gameplay
As mentioned, the gameplay that Sentou Gakuen: Revival offers is rather interesting. While the game is indeed presented in a Visual Novel style, the characters that you get to interact with aren't just NPCs. Instead, they're also players that have their own unique stories. Once you're done with the first day, you get the ability to forge your very own path and not follow any predefined storylines.
Making the game even more fun are the dynamic elements. For example, the day/night cycle can affect everything from the availability of shops, accessible zones, to the spawning of mobs.
Key Features
There’s a lot of reason to be excited about the game. While the game is mainly set in a school, you can actually go out and explore what’s beyond its walls. There are around 31 unique zones and each one has its own upgrades along with secrets for you to discover.
While the gameplay is narrative-heavy, the active and engaging combat system ensures that there is that needed variety. that adds variety to the narrative-heavy gameplay.
Like with RPGs, the game allows for character customization. You can personalize your character using different bases and customization options. Meanwhile, the Crafting & Item System lets you customize and craft your very own gear that can suit your playstyle and there are no predefined recipes.
Sentou Gakuen: Revival is launching in Early Access on January 27. A demo is currently available on Steam.
