The team over at Solo Leveling: ARISE OVERDRIVE has released a new Developer Note that provides details on the core gameplay features and philosophy behind the game. The highlight would have to be the statement saying that this is an entirely different title.

Solo Leveling: ARISE was released in May 2024 and made available on mobile platforms. Then in December 2024, it was reported that a Steam version of the game was coming out. Somewhere along the way, the title was eventually changed to Solo Leveling: ARISE OVERDRIVE.

While a lot of players may have thought it was simply a different title, the development team now has confirmed that it's going to be an entirely different game. That's because according to the team, it was "developed as an independent project by a separate team."

Solo Leveling: ARISE is planned to continue on evolving its own path and aim to provide the best possible gameplay experience. Meanwhile, Solo Leveling: ARISE OVERDRIVE is being developed as a unique PC/console title having its own unique identity.

In a post, the development team shared that Solo Leveling: ARISE OVERDRIVE is a full-package game. One important change is that instead of relying on randomness when it comes to recruiting Hunters or crafting weapons, the game has been designed to reward effort and strategy. This should give players a true sense of achievement. What this means is that all and the joy of progression can be earned and enjoyed completely through in-game play.

Hunter Recruitment

When it comes to hunter recruitment, players can see that standing by Sung Jinwoo’s side are not only his shadows but also a lot of skilled Hunters. The game has players offer each Hunter a payment worthy of their abilities and recruit them to join you in battle.

Weapon Crafting

The game also has players directly choose and craft their own weapons. After defeating powerful bosses, they can use the materials obtained to forge formidable weapons for Sung Jinwoo and the Hunters. By combining various weapons and skill trees, they’ll be able to create a unique combat style that’s entirely their own.

Set Apart

There are two reasons that set the game apart for others and even with Solo Leveling: ARISE. The first is that it offers deeper and more refined action. That’s because the game was designed to have the controls suit PC and console platforms and thus maximize the thrill of weighty and precise combat.

Second is the game’s overwhelming immersion. The next-level PC/Console graphics are sure to fully draw into the story and deliver a truly immersive experience.

Pre-order of the game is now open and you can read the details here.
