Good news to long-time supporters of Dinkum! It appears that all systems go for the official launch of the game. The wait won't be too long since it's going to be this April 23.

Dinkum was first made available via Early Access back in 2022. That's just under three years. In a post, developer James Bendon shared that since then, the game was able to have more and more players. He also managed to make it grow by implementing a series of updates based on "invaluable feedback from the players."

With that in mind, what can players expect for the official version? According to Bendon, a lot of players have been requesting improvements to the game's multiplayer environment. As a result, hosts are going to have more control of what guests can do on their island. Guest players meanwhile can now access features that were once available only to the host.

Other new content include:

  • Creative Mode where players can build and shape their own Dinkum world with more freedom and imagination than ever before
  • rental system for guest houses
  • four new villagers with each one bringing their own unique charm and personality.
  • new recipes which can be bought and discovered

Dinkum invites players to a town that’s located on an island clearly inspired by the wild Australian outback. They’ll have to gather resources through foraging, hunting, fishing, and mining.

Players have to cultivate crops and it's important to select the best spot. This is because each crop has its own ideal season and way of growing. They'll also have to build fences and raise a variety of animals. Aside from growing crops, players can also hunt animals for food but need to remember that there are also predators out there they may be out longer for prey. They can attack creatures head on or try to capture them with traps.

At the start, everything is simple. Eventually it will grow to be a sprawling town that has farms, businesses, and even attractions. There may even be visitors dropping in and could decide to stay and make it their home too.

What do you think? Ready to see if you have what it takes to survive? Check out Dinkum on Steam now.
