Square Enix announced that Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince is all set to make its debut this September 11 for the PC via Steam. The game is also releasing for mobile devices on the same date.
Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince was initially launched for the Nintendo Switch back in December 2023. For this upcoming version, it's going to include all the DLC released that was part of the Digital Deluxe Edition for the Switch. This ensures that both fans and those new to the series get to discover new monster combinations along with experience strategic battles.
The game follows the story of the demon prince Psaro, whose curse doesn't allow him to harm monsters. Because of this, he now has to become a Monster Wrangler. The means he'll have to recruit and then fight alongside different monsters across various environments that's set in the world of Nadiria. Over the course of his adventure, the seasons are going to change from Spring, Summer, Fall, and then Winter. This results not just in experiencing the changes to the landscape but also encounters with monsters that are specific to that season.
Synthesis System
One of the interesting features the game has is what’s known as the evolved synthesis system. This one lets players combine monsters on their roster to create new ones. There are more than 50 monsters that can be unlocked which include franchise favorites, the dark lords, and of course, new creatures.
Another feature is Quickfire Contest which is basically an automatic speed match. This one has players compete in a single player challenge mode in 30 consecutive matches.
The DLCs
As mentioned, this upcoming version comes with previously released DLCs. One of these is the special dungeon known as “The Mole Hole.” This one allows players to scout monsters which have been befriended once before. It gives everyone the chance to reunite with monsters that previously appeared during specific seasons or specific weather conditions. It’s even possible to meet monsters which can usually be obtained through synthesis.
The ”Coach Joe's Dungeon Gym” DLC lets players explore dungeons that are randomly generated and fight against powerful monsters. Finally there’s “Treasure Trunks” which features a mysterious treasure chest that can contains exciting rewards. The chest can be opened once every hour.
