A first-person survival horror RPG is heading your way via Steam. Tower of Mask is launching to the platform on December 7. It features the charm of the 1980s dungeon crawlers and combines it with modern horror elements. This results in a unique and immersive experience.
The game immerses players in a claustrophobic and tense atmosphere as they try to navigate across the dark ruins of the titular "Tower of Mask." The game offers what can be described as old-school exploration elements that brings to mind classics that include "Wizardry" and "Dungeon Master." Then there's also the focus on survival in a resource-limited environment.
The game has a simple combat system through grid-based movement and free camera control. What this means is that there's limitation when it comes to movement. This means that the only way for players to survive is to not only dodge those dangers but also defeat the approaching masked humans.
System Requirements
For those excited to play the game, it's not that difficult. That's because the minimum system requirements are:
- OS: Windows 10, 64-bits
- Processor: Intel Core i5-10600
- Memory: 8 GB RAM
- Graphics: AMD Radeon RX 5600 XT / NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050
- DirectX: Version 11
- Storage: 4 GB available space
Demo Improvements
A free demo of the game was released back in May 2024. Since then it has received a lot of updates. Some of the early improvements for example include changing some maps and some animations. Then there was the addition of the option for invert mouse, which was likely good news to some players.
More players were able to try the game during the Steam Next Fest back in June. As a result of feedback received, the system of the demo version was updated. These include:
- Added effects such as slashing and bleeding. Addition of sound effects.
- Notation of enemy HP and damage.
- Left click is now the only way to attack.
- Holding a weapon with the right mouse button will now build up the attack and increase its power.
- You can now touch objects only with the left click without opening the inventory.
