Softstar Entertainment announced that its first-person horror title Incantation is now available worldwide. The game is based on the Taiwanese found footage supernatural folk horror film of the same name released in 2022. It's priced at $16.99 but players can enjoy the first week discount of 10% off.
The game offers an independent storyline that's extended from Chen’s Village in the movie. Through its iconic immersive first-person view gameplay, players take on the role of a mother looking for her missing child. In their search, they accidentally stumbled into a remote mountain village that seems to be devoted to a mysterious religion.
The game takes elements from the original movie which is a mixture of local culture and religions. Players can look forward to seeing a lot of aged buildings and objects in the game. It features a mix of the collective items gathered during the adventure and the ambiance that appeared in the movie. Then there's also the well-knit and addictive story where players are guided step by step as they dig into the dark side of human nature and understand the concept that Incantation is trying to deliver.
The development team revealed in a post that they designed ingenious interactions so that players are able to understand the characteristics of each character. They get to feel how different a human can be after getting through a series of events while at the same time giving that terrifying vibe.
The team also shared that they paid attention to all the details from narrative design to BGM creation. This is to ensure that the game continues with the style of the original movie and at the same time remain truthful to the film’s creepy vibe. That said, the team revealed that they did have to discard some narrative designs. They also mentioned that some movie Easter eggs were hidden in some of the chapters and players who watched the movie can try finding them and are guaranteed to have both surprises and scares.
Incantation is available on the PC via Steam. You can also get “The Screaming Bundle,” which not only has the game but also includes “The Bridge Curse: Road to Salvation” and “The Bridge Curse 2: The Extrication.”
