It's a new year and that means there's a lot of new things coming to ARK: Survival Ascended. Studio Wildcard pretty much did that with the reveal of the game's roadmap for 2025.
The biggest content coming out this year would have to be Lost Colony. This upcoming paid canonical DLC arrives November with pre-orders starting by April. Now that's still months and months away. However, players need not worry since there's major content being released before then. These include:
- March 2025: ASA Unreal Engine 5.5 update.
- April 2025: Free Ragnarok Ascended, Bison (Free Creature), and a Fantastic Tame.
- June 2025: A new premium map in June (to be announced).
- August 2025: Free Valguero Ascended with a community-voted free creature, and Fantastic Tame.
Coming in 2026
With a lot going in 2025, that means some plans are happening next year. This is good news since the studio would be able to have more time to work on the Genesis Ascended remaster. The plan reveals:
- April 2026: Free Genesis Ascended Part 1 & Bob's True Tales Part 1
- August 2026: Free Genesis Ascended Part 2 & Bob's True Tales Part 2
- December 2026: Free Fjordur Ascended with a community-voted free creature
Ongoing Work
Aside from what’s already mentioned, the studio also revealed other things they are working on. One of these is the Unreal Engine 5.5 upgrade. Once this goes live, players can experience the impactful performance improvements.
The studio is also working on splitting DLC maps into optional downloads so players have more control especially when it comes to storage space.
Finally, there’s the Nvidia Frame Generation which the studio hopes to reintroduce as an option very soon.
ARK: Survival Ascended recreates the ARK world from scratch using the latest Unreal Engine 5 technology. It leverages the technology’s high-end graphics features which include fully dynamic Global Illumination (“Lumen”). This resulted in realistic reflections and advanced mesh streaming (“Nanite”) to allow for extravagant detail. Advanced new physics systems like dynamic water and fully interactive physical foliage are introduced, with characters, explosions, projectiles, even a blade of grass reacting to the environment around them.
