Wolpertinger Games announced a new milestone for Survivor Mercs. The game is celebrating its first year in Early Access on Steam.
Since the release, there's no question that the game has experience substantial growth. These include five major updates which not only expanded the maps but also introduced new mechanics as well as core systems overhauled. Each update in particular not only transformed the game to offer an experience that's more engaging and polished but also highlights the way community feedback can shape games.
Survivor Mercs is an action-packed game where players get to fight against the ominous M.E.G.A. Corp and its private robot army in an attempt to salvage humanity. Players get to take on the role of the Commander and lead a rough-and-tough group of mercenaries. Each Commander is unique, and this is due to a set of randomized traits which can significantly influence the gameplay. At the same time, each mercenary also brings with them unique abilities and behaviors. This adds to the game that extra layer of strategy and complexity. It also allows players to learn more about the strengths and weaknesses of each mercenary and get the right gear for them.
In terms of gameplay, Survivor Mercs offers a procedurally generated map for each operation while at the same time adding variety and even an element of unpredictability. Players need to seize objectives swiftly and decisively since every delay on the battlefield means facing ever-stronger enemies.
As they travel through the different landscapes, players get to make the choice between summoning an extraction point to escape or, for those courageous enough, face-off against a powerful boss enemy. It’s a high risk and high reward. Those who fail can lose their hard-earned loot but those able to survive get bonuses for subsequent operations.
For technical features, the game offers full support for controllers along with keyboard and mouse setup. This allows players even further customization through upgrades not only to their base but also in the gear. The added Twitch integration feature ensures that players can share their games and get their audience involved in the fight.
