Fatshark Games announced the release of the Warhammer: 40,000 Darktide Volume 4 Original Soundtrack. It's all thanks to BAFTA award-winning Danish composer Jesper Kyd.
Kyd's original soundtrack for Darktide features a dark operatic and heavy synth palette. He makes use of his arsenal of vintage analog synths, organic instruments, Eurorack modular synths, and gothic choir. All of this to establish bold new musical directions for the Warhammer franchise. It's not surprising then to know that the entire soundtrack has managed to breach 50 million streams on Spotify. Check out the soundtrack here.
For those wondering, the Volume 4 Tracklisting are:
- Rolling Steel
- The Ritual
- The Psykhanium
- Wave Glider
- Meat Grinder
- Training Grounds
- The Arbites
Talking about the soundtrack, Jesper Kyd shared in a statement that the music collection is "focused on intense and cinematic grimdark EDM music." It brings to mind the notion of writing action-infused music as players fight for the Imperium to cleanse the hive city Tertium of chaos worshipping heretics. He went on to say that the seven-track collection not only covers a lot of ground but hits hard.
For those interested, they can check out the Original Soundtrack, Volume 2 Original Soundtrack, and Volume 3 Original Soundtrack.
Warhammer 40,000: Darktide offers a co-op focused experience from the same team responsible for the Vermintide series. The game has players try to take back the city of Tertium against the hordes of bloodthirsty foes in this intense and brutal action shooter.
The game is built on the legacy of Vermintide 2’s best-in-class melee combat. It introduces intense WH40K gunplay to the mix. Players need to master the balance between ranged and melee combat as they fight their way across a slew of enemies. Players are sure to feel the impact of each swipe, swing, and slice of a chainsword, or fry some flesh with a lasgun.
As mentioned, Warhammer 40,000: Darktide is a co-op game. Those who wander too far may face punishment by enemies who are looking to immobilize or capture stray Rejects. Once this happens, the only thing that can save them are their teammates.
