Odencat Inc., the independent game publisher and developer, announced the release of their retro-inspired JRPG, Meg’s Monster, in the west. After over two years of development, the game has already garnered a lot of positive attention in its homeland, Japan. The team at Odencat focused on creating a unique experience that is extra special and different from other JRPGs.
Meg’s Monster occurs in the Underworld, where monsters and mutants consume humans for breakfast. Roy, a hulking ogre, and his best friend Golan find a lost little girl named Meg. They soon discover that the apocalypse will ensue when Meg starts crying in fear. Their only hope is to help Meg find her mother so she can safely return home.
Players control Roy in this story-driven JRPG, with the twist being that Roy has 99,999 HP and is virtually untouchable. The main objective is to protect Meg and keep her from crying, which will trigger the end of the game. Players must master each battle's unique mechanics and mini-games while using Meg’s favorite toys to keep her pacified.
Roy and Meg will encounter many quirky and colorful characters throughout their journey, each rendered in Odencat’s vibrant pixel art style. Previously defeated enemies can even be befriended through optional sub-events.
What begins as a simple and heartwarming story between two unlikely friends slowly expands into a much greater adventure as Roy and Meg unravel the mysteries surrounding the Underworld and themselves. Meg’s Monster offers an emotional journey that will remain in players' hearts for years.
Meg’s Monster is now available in the west, and fans of JRPGs are excited to experience this unique adventure with Roy and Meg.
