Looks like we're finally getting a release date for the PC version of Mercenaries Wings: The False Phoenix. It's coming out through Steam on October 12. and priced at $14.99. This was announced by publisher Flyhigh Works through a post on X (formerly Twitter).
The story is set in the Kingdom of Dryden which is a sovereign nation that follows a constitutional monarchy. According to stories, the kingdom was established after a hero who was blessed by the Phoenix managed to defeat more than 1000 enemies. As if to prove that violent legend true, the current king Harold has continuously been warring with the neighboring countries since he came into power a decade ago. This ongoing conflict has resulted in the dissatisfaction of the population to reach its peak.
Getting the Crimson Birds
One such group that's not happy with the current status is led by Earl Iscariot. One day as the Royal Army was invading another state, this Rebel Army attacked and was able to capture the under-manned Royal Castle. As a result, Dryden not only has to deal with a war against Collingwood but also a civil war from the inside.
To fight against the rebels, King Harold is left with no choice by to obtain the services of mercenaries. One such group that answered this call is the Crimson Birds which is led by their commander Kane the Crimson Flash and vice-commander Jeremy the Phoenix.
Leading the Mercenaries
Mercenaries Wings: The False Phoenix is a tactical simulation RPG where players level up, equip, and command a group of mercenaries as they fight through different stages. During battles, how the units are positioned is taken into account to determine the effectiveness of the actions. To get that much needed advantage in a fight, players can use Skill Points to change the class of the character. Players can also level up characters to unlock Intermediate and later Advanced job classes. While each class comes with its own set of skills, there are special classes which can be unlocked by using certain items.
