Hark the Ghoul is a first-person and exploration-focused indie souls-like game. This dungeon crawler features freeform traversal and combines it with expressive combat, which are then packaged in a charming lore-rich world. The game mixes creative immersive-sim problem-solving, souls-like non-linear exploration, and a melancholic and striking world.
The game has players explore the somber streets of Clergerac and the depths underneath. There they can find all sorts of useful equipment and even cleverly combine their uses to make their own path through the world. Players can use swords, whips, pistols, cannons, and artifacts. They can also use magic to tear through enemies. Each piece of gear has its unique utility.

Behind the Scenes
The game is being developed by Deep Denizens, a tight-knit French game studio of three. The developers are devoted to crafting strange and atmospheric worlds worth getting lost in. They're also about building experiences for the curious and the bold, pretty much players who don’t mind venturing into the dark. Their worlds are labyrinths of hand-crafted mystery, filled with hidden stories, peculiar characters, and the freedom to chart your own path.
Serving as the publisher is Kwalee. Based in Leamington Spa, UK, they have a growing catalogue of PC and console titles that include Wildmender, ROBOBEAT, Voidwrought, In Sink, The Spirit of the Samurai, Hordes of Hunger, and The Precinct.
