Destiny is in Your Hands
Rise of the Ronin takes place in 1863 Japan where it's been three centuries of the Tokugawa Shogunate’s reign. It's also a time when Black Ships of the West have descended on the nation’s borders and the country has fallen into a state of turmoil. The fate of Japan now lies in the hands of the players, who take on the role of a Ronin. They'll encounter different historical figures and the countless choices they make evolve not only their destiny but also the multiple endings found in the game.
In the game, players can customize weapons and styles to their liking in order to engage in the deep and accessible combat system. There are different melee weapons available like the katana, spear, and odachi, and each one offers multiple styles. As a result, this leads to various fighting strategies and tactics based on the types of enemies and enemy weapons facing players. Long-ranged weapons meanwhile like guns and bows are also available and depend on the situation.
Players can also explore the mixed cultural landscapes of Edo, Yokohama, and Kyoto during the Bakumatsu period. The stunning scenery actually changes with the seasons and showcases details that include cherry blossoms and autumn leaves. In addition, a grappling rope can be used to climb onto rooftops while an Avicula glider can be used to soar through the air. With this, players get the ability to capture their favorite views using photo mode.
