It's more than a decade since The Elder Scrolls Online was first released. Since then, the game has evolved with a lot of new content and features introduced. This year, the online RPG is taking a big step with the introduction of Seasons.
Each Season is set to offer new adventures for players to experience along with realms to explore and even new ways to play. They're basically everything players can expect from the game but contained within a three-month period. In addition, each one offers a new distinct them and gameplay additions. That means no two Seasons are the same. In a post, ZeniMax Online Studios revealed that since this means the development team won't be working on a singular major update annually, players can expect for content to arrive continuously across the year.
That's not all since all new gameplay content included in a Season is going to be free for all base-game players. According to the studio, they wanted to remove the barriers to new content so that all players can enjoy the new features at no cost and at the same time.
While the specifics and scope changes with each new and distinct Season, players can look forward to each one bringing new rewards, adventures, and ways to play. Generally, a season can contain different features. There's new gameplay content which can could include a new zone, storyline or questline, class, skill line, or system. A new Tamriel Tome is being added that offers a new and battlepass-like experience having free rewards and optional bonus tracks for those who wish to unlock even more. New base-game changes and improvements are also introduced like quality-of-life additions, balance changes, or performance updates. There's also a new reward store in which anybody can spend a new and freely earned currency.
