NCSOFT announced that they're making a revamp to Dimensional Trials in Throne and Liberty. It's not simply an adjustment in the difficulty but a structural redesign to take into account the experience and growth of each individual player.

The development team shared that Tier 1 now has a difficulty level that's similar to standard co-op dungeons with the main difference being that it has enhanced rewards. It should let players jump in on the action without any pressure while at the same time continue to feel a sense of achievement from the rewards.

The content continues to have the replayable structure with each trial built with strategic variety through affixes and specific conditions. Players familiar with co-op dungeons can now learn through actual gameplay without the need to perfect knowledge beforehand. This allows for a more intuitive and hands-on approach to mastery.

Affix System Changes

Meanwhile, each trial round now offers unique affixes and challenge conditions which require players to adapt their strategies. Each attempt has been designed to feel like a self-contained and rewarding experience. One of the biggest shifts is that the affix system is now central to the design of the content. Affixes don’t just increase difficulty since they also encourage players to think critically about which weapon and role combinations are most effective.

This change enhances not only the strategic depth but also the variety of party play. What this means is that the shorter the clear time, the more difficult affixes players can select, the fewer times they die, and the more affix monsters they defeat, the higher the score. The new system evaluates how efficiently players clear challenges under the same conditions.

Throne and Liberty follow the story of a tumultuous world where players need to defeat the evil Kazar and ascend to the throne. They’ll also need to fight against other guilds who are also hoping to gain power for themselves. As the story progresses, it becomes clear that there is no linear path when it comes to victory. This means that players need to find their own way in the story.

There’s no question that the objective gameplay structure combined with the rich narrative allow for the game to be engaging and promising. Get Throne and Liberty for the PC via Steam now.
