The Riftbreaker Introduces Randomized Mission Generation

An update is now live in The Riftbreaker. This massive and free update introduces a lot of new content for all players. There are also new interesting features like the randomized mission generator.

How it works is that once players complete all of the main missions in any given biome, they have the choice to look for new planetary locations. They can choose to have exploration-style maps where they have to look for hidden treasures and Bioanomalies or set up new resource outposts in resource-rich areas. Basically, it means the Campaign won't be limited anymore to a predefined set of maps.

The Randomized Mission Generator gives players access to countless variations of maps with unique characteristics. Making use of this tool gives them access to additional resources, equipment, and space to relocate their infrastructure if needed. Read more about this new feature here.

Exploration Missions

The Randomized Mission Generator offers exploration missions which should serve as a great palate cleanser between planning and building those factories. Players may even stumble on some of the new and unique encounters. There are also going to be special in-game events that happen on handcrafted tiles.

Another thing to remember is that when "rolling" a new map through the Mission Generator, there's a chance that one such tile is going to be featured on the map. Ashley and Mr. Riggs immediately notify players via custom-made dialog lines, tailored for that occasion. Each encounter stands out visually and narratively. In addition, it's guaranteed to never repeat in one Campaign playthrough.

Game Balance Adjustments

In a post, the development team revealed that they've taken note of all the feedback and incorporated these when they rebalanced the whole campaign. Difficulty Modes for example has been redesigned so that it now suits a majority of players. Meanwhile, Easy Mode has been toned down to offer a more casual and leisurely style of play. Hard and Brutal Modes have been "intensified" and now offer a greater challenge to those who want their skills tested.
