Things are heating up as Volcanic Wastelands update has finally arrived to Hive Jump 2: Survivors. One of the highlights is the introduction of a new map which is the harrowing Volcanic Wastelands. This is a narrow arena that's flanked by towering flames which is swarming with flying foes.
There's also a new boss to fight who’s known as the Scorcher. Being an airborne boss, players need to power up their jetpacks and obtain those previous bug guts to upgrade resources if they are to stand a chance. The trick is to make sure that they defeat the boss before it restores its armor. By the way, players also need to keep a close watch on new enemies like the Stalker and Lurker.
Helping players fight against new opponents are new weapons that include Six Shooter, Electric Fence, and Seismic Blast.
Aside from the new content, there are also UI improvements that include:
- High-res text option added.
- Permanent Upgrades Menu streamlined.
- Empty equipment slots are now shown on the store screen.
- Multiple compass arrows can now appear below the player when there are challenges, hives, and or bosses are nearby at the same time.
- Animated price text in the store.
- Increased drop shadows to increase legibility on text.
- Challenge Hive Minimap updates.

Hive Jump 2: Survivors can be described as a sci-fi, action-packed and bullet heaven roguelike game. The story follows a squad of jetpack Jumpers who have been decimated following an intergalactic ambush. A lone survivor now sets out to seek for vengeance while at the same time fend off endless waves of killer insects. In terms of gameplay, players have the option to use auto-fire at enemies in order to focus more on movement. They can also decide to aim by themselves to have better control.
Players get to choose from different Jumpers which have their own unique builds and abilities. To have the biggest chance to survive the hordes, they’ll need to collect amber and alien goo to obtain resources and in return earn upgrades.
Hive Jump 2: Survivors is now in Early Access on Steam. Right now, the game is being offered at 10% discount until August 7.
