You’re Invited to the First Race Event in Path of Exile 2

Grinding Gear Games announced that they're organizing a series of races in Path of Exile 2 that's open to everyone. The goal of the races is to crown players willing to prove themselves against others. These races are the first event in the game that introduces the new series of Demigod items as prizes.

Anyway, in each of these events players get to compete to be the first to kill Doryani in Act 3 in a Standard Solo Self-Found fixed layout environment. While this is not a Hardcore Event, players incur a penalty upon death where they won't be able to move until a one-minute period has lapsed. To view the results, the studio is posting a ladder so that everyone knows who is leading in real-time during each race.

To be part of the race event, all players need to click the "Join" button for the race in the Character Select screen. They should then be prompted to create a character. Once they've spawned in, players won't be able to move their character until the race starts. These races are open to PC and Console with a shared prize pool.

Here are the event time and dates:

  • Race 1: March 2 at 11:00 a.m. (PST)
  • Race 2: March 9 at 12:00 p.m. (PDT)
  • Race 3: March 16 at 12:00 p.m. (PDT)

The studio reminded everyone that players join the races early since each race starts at the same time for all players.

Now it wouldn't be an event without the rewards. The prizes are the Demigod's Virtue Unique item for the top placement of each class which are Ranger, Sorceress, Witch, Monk, Warrior, and Mercenary. What this means is that for each race, there are six Demigod's Virtues available. Studio revealed that future events are going to include other classes when they're added to Early Access.

The studio went on to say that as more races are organized in the future, they're going to cycle through all the Demigod's items. They'll eventually represent an entire armour set including weaponry. What this means is that those good enough may be able to collect the entire set.

Once each race is done, a Remove-Only stash tab is going to be added in the core leagues where players can choose to remove the item from the tab to equip it, show it off, link it to others or keep it there as a trophy for the ages. Players can also trade it away if they don't care.
