The latest update for Fallout 76 has arrived and there's a lot to unpack. For starters, there's a new region that's opened up for everyone to explore. Then there's the new feature called Bounty Hunting.
The new update brings players to the Burning Springs, a region of southeastern Ohio that's experienced not only nuclear destruction as a result of bombs being dropped, but also environmental poisoning from the local Abraxodyne Chemical plant. One area of this region is known as The Highway Town and serves as a pit stop for the last of humanity.
The Grunt Hunt
In that same location lies what's the Last Resort saloon. There players should meet the Ghoul, who seems to have set up shop there. He's the one providing the bounties just waiting for players to plunder. To begin a Grunt Hunt, all players need to do is simply pick up one of the posters off the table. There's plenty to go around, so players can repeat this activity to their heart's content.
Each time players start a Grunt Hunt, a random location in Burning Springs is chosen with a mutation being applied to the target. The thing to remember is that these mutations are contagious. What this means is that enemies near the target also benefit from the effects of the mutation. Be sure to plan accordingly when taking out the target without getting overwhelmed.
The Head Hunt
Players lucky enough can have their Grunt Hunt target drop a premium Bounty Poster. This allows them to start a Head Hunt. It's an extra challenging bounty hunt in the form of a public event. Take note that this is obtained through the Quest Rewards and not found on the body itself.
Anyway, simply place the poster on the bounty board outside of the saloon to send the word wide. All players on the server are then alerted to show up to help those who put up the poster. Only one Head Hunt can be active at a time. That said, there are dozens of unique Head Hunt targets across a handful of locations. Each one come with a unique loadout and posse protecting them. Head Hunt targets always appear as 3-star legendaries and are flanked by a pair of 2-star posse members. Players can track which Head Hunts they've completed from their Challenges and earn a variety of unique rewards for doing so.
By the way, The Ghoul is actually more than happy to part with a premium poster, for the right price.
