One of the interesting features introduced to Once Human in its latest update is the Temperature Mechanic. Today we'll take a closer look at how this works.
Let's start with the fact that this temperature mechanic applies in all scenarios. This temperature system has two main factors which are temperature and resistance. Temperature is affected by region, weather, time of day, environment, and even certain items. Resistance meanwhile determines how much players can withstand extreme temperatures. That means the higher the resistance, the less likely players are impacted by scorching or freezing environments. For example, players become Cold when the temperature is 10°C or below. But those who have 10 Cold Resist, it means that they get to feel comfortable even at 10°C. In addition, they'll only feel cold at 0°C.
Temperature States
There are a total of five states and each one comes with its own effects. Frost for example has players rapidly lose energy and body temperature which lead to Hypothermia. Frost also results in players getting inflicted with 1 stack of Frozen every three seconds. Note that Frozen has players losing 5% HP per second and movement being slowed for each stack. When players receive four stacks of Frozen, they die instantly. Frost is the most extreme.
Then there's Cold where players lose energy and body temperature which lead to Hypothermia. Cozy meanwhile the body temperature of players slowly recovers to normal. As temperature goes higher, it leads to the Hot state where players lose Hydration and gain body temperature leading to Heatstroke.
Finally, there's Blaze, which is pretty much the opposite of Frost. Players lose Hydration and gain body temperature leading to Heatstroke. In this state, players also get inflicted with one stack of Combustion every three seconds. Remember that for each stack of Combustion, players lose 5% of HP and 1% gear durability each second. Players who get four stacks of Combustion die instantly.
