A new title from developer Games Farm is releasing for the PC through Steam Early Access this autumn. Jötunnslayer: Hordes of Hel is an upcoming roguelike horde-survivor game that's set in the dark realms of Norse mythology. In the game, you get to fight against waves of enemies and earn divine blessings from the ancient Norse Gods. Now while the release is still months away, a playable demo is schedule to be available on Steam this May.
In the game, you get to choose a fallen soul who has been condemned to suffer in Helheim. You get to wield a blade and do battle against legions of foes in a quest for redemption. In this desolate domain, the only way to earn divine blessings is to spill rivers of blood.
Fast-paced Battles
The game lets you experience intense and adrenaline-fueled battles versus relentless waves of enemies. Making things challenging is the time pressure. Each encounter tests your skills and reflexes as you try to survive against what are clearly overwhelming odds of the Norse underworld.
As you make your way through the game, you also get to face powerful boss enemies whose levels of threat increase as you progress. To win, you’ll need to come up with certain strategies rather than simply facing them directly head-on. For example, you can make use of the environment and skills to get the advantage.
However, it's not all battles. With each run, you'll be asked to take on challenging tasks and missions. This tests your abilities while also providing a much-needed depth in your journey across the Nine worlds. The quests need you to complete specific objectives or overcome additional obstacles and in return obtain rewards.
Becoming the Hero
The game has you choose from a wide range of diverse characters. Each one has their own unique set of skills, abilities, and weapons. The thing is you can experiment with different combinations to find one that matches your playstyle. It’s also important to find the right mix that can let you overcome the different challenges and scenarios.
Now the game features a meta-progression system which allows you to improve your character through unlockable perks and upgrades. As you continue to update, you get to unlock new abilities and new enhancements which can increase your chances of survival.
