Survival Mechanics to be Optimized in Once Human

The Raidzone for Once Human update is all set to be released August 28. There's going to be changes made with one to be done for the game's survival mechanics.

RaidZone is a new PvP game series which went live back in May of this year. This new series has players fight solely for themselves. They'll need to defeat enemies and defy fate. It's a take on the world or be destroyed. This one is a good choice for those looking for pure and intense PvP action. Then back in July, we reported that developer Starry Studio was working on fixing some issues.

Durability

One of them focuses on the optimization of survival mechanics on durability. In a post, the development team shared that they wanted Stamina to focus mainly on rolling, gliding, as well as other actions that are relevant to combat or escaping instead of the regular exploration and gathering. These include:

  • Reduced the Stamina cost of sprinting by 25%.
  • Removed the Stamina cost of gathering.
  • Increased the Stamina recovery speed by 25%.


Hydration and Energy Effects

There's also changes coming to the effect. For the Positive Effects, the Stamina cost of sprinting was lowered when Hydration reached 60%. With the update, it now only apples when Hydration reaches 100%. In addition, a Force recovery effect now only applies when Energy reaches 100%.

For the Negative Effects, previously it was that Load would gradually decrease when Energy was below 30%. The update now has Load only be reduced when Energy reaches 0. For Stamina, previously the recovery speed and Movement Speed would be reduced when Hydration was below 30%. The change is that the Movement Speed is now reduced when Hydration reaches 0.

According to the team, they hope to lower the basic survival pressure. This way, players won't have to constantly monitor their Energy and Hydration to avoid penalties. At the same time, the team also wanted to offer bigger incentives for maintaining full Energy and Hydration to reward careful management of these parameters.

Other Changes

There's also a change on returning from Blackout. Previously, after returning from a blackout, Energy and Hydration would be restored to their pre-blackout levels. However, these imposed a heavy burden on players with limited supplies. The change is that Energy is now restored to approximately 50% and Hydration to approximately 70% after a blackout.

Then in RaidZone scenarios, all Sanity-related negative effects are temporarily disabled, and players' Max HP remain fixed.
