A new title from developer False Prophet is set to be released for the PC through Steam in 2024. BEAST offers players a dynamic and brutal gridless tactical turn-based RPG where the moral choices made during battle can influence the gameplay. It's set in a grimdark medieval world that's been torn by plague and military conflicts.
False Prophet is a video game development studio based in Warsaw, Poland, and founded in 2019. The team is composed of talented professions who not only share common values but also the passion to provide players with unforgettable experiences. The mission of the studio is to develop mature, dark, and demanding, games.
You can watch the announcement trailer for the game below:
The story focuses on a veteran who everybody had presumed dead but has returned from a 10-year-long Ottoman slavery. His Carpathian homeland is now being ruled by a demented prophet-king with the lands being ruined by raiders and cursed with a hellish plague. Everything that he has cherished and loved has either changed beyond recognition or long gone. Now all he has left is the loyalty of his soldiers and a holy quest to stop the plague. While facing the hordes of enemies, he has to do the same to his inner demons and see if he has what it takes to survive.
Aside from a quick look into the story, not much has been revealed except for these features:
- Unique Beast System: It’s up to players to decide where they want to exorcise the inner Beast or exercise it. The Insanity system results in players having to make those difficult moral decisions while in combat.
- Insanity of the Dark Ages: The game features an atmospheric and story-rich grimdark world that’s inspired by Carpathian legends. There is only greater evil or lesser evil.
- Melee-Focused Combat: Get to command a squad in a fast-paced, gridless, and turn-based tactical battles. Survive the intense and visceral encounters.
For the system requirements, not much has been revealed as well. So far what we know is that the PC may need to have a 64-bit processor. In addition, a broadband internet connection is needed to play the game.
