A new update is in the works in The Elder Scrolls Online. It's going to introduce some truly interesting changes and one of these is on Battlegrounds. Update 44 goes live for the PC on October 28 while consoles have to wait until November 13.
There's no doubt that the PvP combat of Battlegrounds is truly exciting and fast-paced. However, Update 44 is set to make big changes to the current format. In particular, it's going to shift Battlegrounds to two-sided matches instead of the usual three-sided ones. Once the update goes live, it's going to introduce two main match types. The first is the 4v4 which is a competitive mode between two teams composed of four players each. The second is 8v8, which is a standard mode that features powerups and has two teams of eight players face off. Arriving with this two-sided forward are seven new maps.
What this all means is that when the update drops, the 4v4v4 game mode won't be available anymore for queues. ZeniMax Online Studios did share in a post that it could return in the future but only for limited times during special mini-PvP events.
In-Game Tutorial
The upcoming update is also reinstating the first chapter of the main questline as the primary tutorial. This means that the old tutorial quest, which is “Gates of Adamant,” is going to be retired.
That’s not all since the changes and improvements have been made to the original tutorial quest. These include changes made to the quest structure along with the introduction of new weapon drops. There’s also the more gradual introduction when it comes to the game systems. Look forward as well to the modernizing of combat, lockpicking, and stealth tutorials. Indeed, there’s a lot to look forward to when the new update arrives.
The new update also introduces new companions to the game which you can read more about here.
