The Firedeep Opens Up in Dark and Darker

Season 8 of Dark and Darker is finally here. It invites players to descend into the depths of Firedeep. This newly revealed second floor of the Goblin Caves is a lava-filled dungeon that's shaped by molten rivers, collapsing stone, and crushing heat. It's an area that turns every expedition into a fight for survival.

Firedeep is inhabited by savage lava creatures along with heavily armed dwarf miners who have carved their stronghold into the rock. The tight corridors and hazardous terrain leave little room for error as adventurers push deeper into the inferno. There's also a massive new threat rules the depths below. The towering Fire Colossus stands as the ultimate challenge of Firedeep as it guards powerful rewards for those who survive the descent.

Combat Improvements

That's not all that arrived to the game. In a post, developer IRONMACE revealed that they've made substantial adjustments to the core movement system of the game. This should allow the actions of the characters to flow more freely. There's also going to be an improvement when it comes to the overall smoothness of movement and combat actions to make skill expression in the game more intuitive. The studio went on to say that they wanted the tides of battles to turn based on properly reading and responding to combat instead of getting the upper hand by utilizing obscure arbitrary mechanics.

Dark and Darker is a hardcore, first-person, fantasy based and dungeon crawler extraction game. It has players take on ruthless monsters, navigate devious traps, and uncover secrets that contain untold treasures.

Players get to play solo or with friends in duos or trios as they take on the nightmares that await them. They’ll also need to take down other adventurers who stand in their way. Once they defeat other adventurers in combat, they can the take their hard-earned treasures for themselves. There’s also the option to form uneasy alliances to increase the odds of surviving against the wide range of fearsome beasts, gruesome undead, and vile demons that lurk in the darkness. However, for those who seek danger but don’t want to face the threat of other players, Dark and Darker has a PvE-only Adventure Mode which offers a way to experience the dungeons in pure cooperative play.
