When Wayfinder was officially made available on Steam Early Access, there was a certain level of expectation from the players. After all, the release was delayed for a few days to resolve some final issues and make sure everything was smooth.
However, the reality is far from the expectation. Over the weekend, Airship Syndicate admitted in a post that they failed to deliver what players who spent money expected. Indeed, there were a lot of issues.
Game Login
One main issue was being able to actually play the game. That's right! A lot of players weren't able to so. It turned out that the number of players during the launch far exceed those during the technical tests and even beta tests. While the queue system was ready, it wasn't able to handle the large number of logins resulting to a system failure. Fortunately, the studio was able to fix this problem immediately and stabilize the login experience of everyone.
The studio also implemented a cap on the number of players able to login to a serve but this resulted to a new error.
Founder's Pack
Another issue that came up was on the Founder's Pack. It seems that some of the players didn't get the items that were supposed to be in them. The problem was traced to issues related to the back-end server. While this has been made a priority as well, it appears that the studio won't be able to give an update as of the moment until there is more stability. This only affected a few players, but a solution is still being worked to make sure that this promise would be delivered.
Other Issues
The studio also admitted there were problems with the monetization and in particular not being player friends. The plan is to review the pricing of weapons and grant the difference for those who paid retroactively. Another good news though is that there are plans being made to compensate though who bought early access, whether they were able to play or not
